Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month
October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month - Be Prepared, Save a Life
October is designated as Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, and for good reason. According to the American Red Cross, more than 350,000 people in the U.S. every year experience an out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest. Tragically, about 90% of them die. What’s more, over 70% of those events happen in the home.
Drowning Prevention Starts with Awareness
At Upper Valley Aquatic Center, water safety is our top priority. As we head into the busy summer swim season, it's important to understand the real risks—and how we can work together to prevent them.

We spoke to several members of the aquatics staff here at Upper Valley Aquatic Center to get their perspective on the work they do, their motivations, and their safety tips.
