More About Sophia
Sophia joined the UVAC team in 2026, relocating from New York City. Originally from Vermont, she grew up competing in swimming across the state and is excited to bring her expertise back to the place where her passion for aquatics first began. She arrives at UVAC with a robust background in swim instruction and competitive coaching, with a specialized focus on enhancing lesson programming and elevating team development.
In her role as Red Cross Coordinator, Sophia’s top priority is the safety and certification of both staff, swimmers and community members. She is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of emergency preparedness and aquatic education, ensuring that UVAC remains a leader in water safety. By overseeing our Red Cross programs, she ensures that every instructor is expertly prepared to provide a safe, encouraging space where participants of all ages can build confidence and life-saving skills. Sophia creates a secure and supportive environment where participants of all ages can build confidence and foundational skills for a lifelong, positive experience in the water.
Outside of the pool, Sophia enjoys staying active and spending quality time with her friends, family and two cats as she settles back into the Vermont lifestyle. A creative at heart, she also spends her free time designing and sewing her own custom clothing.
