Swim Instructor, Swim Whisperers® Certified

I'm very happy to be entering my third year as a UVAC swim instructor. With my background as a physical therapist, I was particularly excited when I had the opportunity to become a certified adaptive swim instructor (Swim Whisperer) . The valuable skills I've learned from this program have taught me the importance of effective communication, flexibility, and patience when teaching swimmers with varying abilities/disabilities in a safe and caring environment. There's nothing much better than seeing big smiles on childrens' faces as they realize for the first time that, in the water, they can move in ways that they never thought possible.

I've been surrounded by water in one way or another from the day I was born. I was a competitive age group swimmer as a kid, lived on a sailboat for three years while in high school, was a diver in college, competed as a triathlon team member, and was a USA swim official for years when my daughter was on the UVAC Swim Team. I just love anything to do with water, and these days, I swim with the UVRays Master's Team and enjoy giving swim lessons to people of all ages.
