Rowan joined the UVAC team in August 2025 as the Red Cross Coordinator. A North Carolina native, Rowan has a B.A. in Psychology from UNC Asheville and a M.S. in Experiential and Outdoor Education from Western Carolina University. She has over a decade of experience in outdoor education, teaching classes in whitewater kayaking, backpacking, outdoor leadership, CPR and First aid, and is excited to be teaching in the Upper Valley.
Rowan was a member of the USA Freestyle Kayaking team from 2012 - 2017, and spent multiple summers traveling and living in her car to compete at different river surf waves. She can still occasionally be found in a boat, but in her free time Rowan can be found out hiking with her husband Ian and their dog (and sometimes their cats).
