We’re excited to share that Upper Valley Aquatic Center (UVAC) has proposed a new initiative to help revive competitive swimming and boost aquatic participation in the Claremont swim program.
In a recent presentation to the Claremont City Council, UVAC officials outlined a plan to bring a structured swim program to the community’s pool, blending swim lessons with a developing swim team coached by experienced professionals. The goal is to honor Claremont’s rich history of swim teams from past decades while creating a sustainable, community-centered program for today’s families.
The proposal includes a trial phase of swim lessons for all ages — starting with young children and progressing into longer seasonal sessions — and plans for a future competitive team. UVAC leaders emphasized that swimming is both a sport and a vital life skill, and that local instructors from the Claremont area would play a key role in building the program.
The broader vision is to grow participation over time, with hopes of fielding a fall/winter team of several dozen swimmers.
